The Wines

We believe in releasing wines only when they are ready to drink.
As a result, we may release vintages out of order, depending on the character of the wine.

Chard 2012.jpg

2012 Poseidon's Vineyard Chardonnay

This was our first vintage of Chardonnay. It came from the Poseidon vineyard in south Carneros. The vineyard runs along the bay and boats dock mere feet from where vines are planted! The 2012 was fermented and aged in two French barrels – a neutral and a one year old. The wine is drinking beautifully today, and offers a nose of ripe pear, apple blossoms, cashews, and oyster shells. On the palate it is creamy but bright. 50 cases produced.

2015 Poseidon Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay

Our most taut and nervy vintage of Chardonnay, this wine possesses electric acidity. Aromas of lemon juice, wet stone, and cut hay form the nose. In the palate it is focused and bright, with a long, mouth-watering finish. Gently pressed and aged for 15 months in neutral French oak. 100 cases made.

Sonoma Pinot 2012.jpg

2012 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

This was our first experience working with Sonoma Coast fruit and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the way the wine came out. Compared to our Napa Valley Pinot Noir, this wine is far more bright and structured, with a proud, crunchy acidity that lifts up the bright red berry core. Scents of crushed flowers, dried mushrooms, and blood ring the fruit on the nose. This wine was fermented using 25% whole clusters in an open-top Rousseau oak tank and aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels. 50 cases produced.

2014Pinot.jpg

2016 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Our 2014 Pinot Noir is a slightly richer and darker take on our typically high-tension style. Sourced from the chilly Anapolis region of the Sonoma Coast, the fruit yields wines of great definition and energy. Scents of lavender, bing cherry, mint, and turned earth form the nose. On the palate the fruit is complemented by a savory tone, and the strong acidity keeps the wine lifted and fresh. Fermented in used puncheons and aged for 18 months in neutral French barrels. 100 cases made.

2016 Rorick Heritage Vineyard Calaveras County Barbera

As this was a low-yielding vintage, we made less wine than normal. We also adjusted our approach somewhat, using 100% foot trod whole cluster. The wine was fermented in a single puncheon and aged for 15 months in neutral French oak. Wound up for a long time, it has only recently started to relax. In the mouth, it is vibrant and juicy, with a pomegranate tone to the fruit. 65 cases made.
